My newest venture has been into the world of fine art. My botanical paintings of flowers, fruits and veggies are traditionally done in watercolor. Often while I’m strolling in my garden an especially gorgeous specimen will call out to me with its beauty and I’ll whisk it upstairs to my studio to paint!
For my animal portraits I love pastel or charcoal pencil; the rich softness of this media works so well with furry faces. Animals are not good at standing still for hours at a time, as well as, say, a pear, so for those I do extensive photo shoots to work from. I will often do two photo shoots for commissioned portraits to ensure the client is happy with a pose that reflects their pet’s personality.
